Disney’s Wreck-It Ralph from 2012 (IMDB) has a lot of great references in it, but one of the geekiest has got to be King Candy’s use of the Konami Cheat Code (link).  But in searching GetYarn.io, there apparently isn’t enough valid subtitle / dialogue action to get a good gif (not to mention having to click back from the nearest valid dialogue that turned up the correct section of the movie lol).          So guess it’s time for another round of “make it yourself”! 😉 Start with a little dash of Googling (Google Search | youtube to gif), throw in a pinch of “this second link looks promising” (Youtube to GIF | free YouTube to GIF Generator on Make A GIF), cook for 15 seconds, and et voilà!  Wreck-It-Ralph King Candy Konami Cheat Code on Make a GIF Of course I’m a big fan of having my … Continue reading →

Indiana Jones Whip GIF In the process of making that GIF, I discovered ezgif.com which contains a fairly amazing suite of online tools that made the creation of that GIF (from a video clip I created locally) extremely easy. “How easy was it?” So easy that when I next encountered a quote that I couldn’t find on GetYarn.io, I decided to be ambitious and give it a go myself. Build a Habit-Robot in your Brain (from Scott Adams’ Blog) I find myself further and further fascinated with Scott’s musings, but this one was especially poignant given the number of “what’s going on inside their head” things that I’ve encountered this year (Disney Pixar’s Inside Out and Kristen Anderson-Lopez/Robert Lopez’ Up Here!).   Where the Palm Meets the Pine (from A Geographer’s Scrapbook) This was a fascinating article to read that was randomly posted in an internal work email and something I’ll have to remember to keep an eye out for next time I’m driving north!

Wait…The Cost Of Oil Did What??? And Costo Did WHAT?!?!

Here we go. A straight-forward-ish explanation of what’s going on with the price of oil. So Iran is posturing and the price of oil spikes?!?! Grrr. But even more grrrr was our experience at Costco today. We pulled into the line at the Fullerton Costco gas station (which seemed fairly straight-forward for a Saturday), but soon we were engaged by a Costco employee. They told us that the back pump of each lane was Regular only and the front pump was Premium only. This effectively means that everybody (except the few who don’t want to wait in the line and get Costco employee guidance to queue up for the front pump) is waiting to use one pump per lane. The next opportunity we had we bailed because that’s garbage.
