Sony Vegas Pro 8.1, Windows 7 64-bit, and Error 0x80010105 (message missing)

I was trying to figure out how best to render videos in Sony Vegas for YouTube. I used to just use DivX and hope for the best, but I’ve upgraded to Windows 7 64-bit and Sony Vegas Pro 8.1 (the only 64-bit compatible version of Vegas8) doesn’t recognize DivX. I found a partial solution referring to h.264 here: http://forums.creativecow.net/readpost/24/874371 & http://forums.creativecow.net/readpost/24/874375 But when I tried to render with the project template “YouTube (HD)”, the render would fail with this error message – “An error occoured while creating the media file xxxxx.yyy. Error 0x80010105 (message missing)”. The suggestions posted here: http://forums.creativecow.net/thread/24/884273 said to try “compatibility mode: Vista no service packs” and “Run As Administrator” which didn’t solve the problem. So I dug into the project template and lo and behold – de-selecting two-pass on the video tab allowed the render to complete perfectly. A very well done remake. I wasn’t too impressed with the trailers (well ok, I was cuz stuff blew up, but still), but the film is absolutely phenomenal – a real hoot and it pays respect in all the right places to what came before and especially to those who came before (that’s right…keep an eye out for the original Face and the original Murdock!). Pizza Planet truck!!! A113 license plate!!! Pizza Planet driver!!! My Neighbor Totoro!!! Bud Luckey (Rick Ricker from The Incredibles)!!! Lee Unkrich did an absolutely incredible job tying together everything the Toy Story universe has meant to a generation of fans. This film is absolutely phenomenal. And there’s really awesome promotional materials all over the place! At the Century 20 theatres… At Disney’s California Adventure… And I’m sure much more. Way to go Disney-Pixar! 😀

1. Go into Internet Options, through Control Panel or Internet Explorer -> Tools. 2. Go to the Security tab and select “Trusted Sites”. 3. Click on “Sites” 4. Deselect the “Require server verification (http:) for all sites in this zone” checkbox 5 Add the network computer the executable is located on (i.e. \\server) and click OK 6. Click on “Custom Level” 7. Deleting UpperFilter and Lower Filter registry entries usually does the trick. Or replacing the system32/drivers/ files with working drivers. Usually gets corrupted by viruses (they don’t want you installing anti-viruses via optical media I guess). http://sillydog.org/forum/sdt_9200.php

Internet Explorer Cannot Display The Webpage

The antivirus virus will try to disable Windows communicating with the outside world by enabling the proxy service. There are two ways to disable it: Internet Explorer -> Tools -> Internet Options -> Connection -> LAN Connection or you can get to the same Internet Options from Control Panel. Prince Of Persia: Sands Of Time – Premiere Cinema 11, Galveston, TX

Directed by Mike Newell (Harry Potter 5), music by Harry Gregson-Williams (Chronicles of Narnia). Very enjoyable. Little kid free running + big kid free running. I never played Prince of Persia (preferred Assassins Creed), but story looks like fun (if adaptation is loyal).
